Description

MIND app - NHS recommended.

The MIND app (Make an Impact on Neurological Disorders) features art, music and dance activities to appeal to the visual, physical and auditory capacities of patients afflicted by neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, stroke, traumatic brain injury. This app features a virtual art gallery where users can observe well known masterpieces, such as Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa; create their own version of them and play matching game activities.

Users can create their own music, watch dance and exercise videos, and enjoy music from different countries. The app is also designed to ease the relationship between Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, essential tremor, stroke, and traumatic brain injury patients and caregivers by providing topics of discussion activities that they can enjoy together. All the scientific content of this app has been generated and curated for GE Healthcare by Monica M. Kurtis, MD. Additional content for this site was developed with the assistance of Amy Trommer, David Leventhal and Dance for PD, Daniel C. Potts, MD and Angel Duncan, and we are appreciative of their efforts.

Our NHS health app review-

Pros:Nice variation of activities with real users in the videos. App is linked to evidence.

Cons: The dancing is a little fast for our client group. The bird game appears slightly patronising.

Tested on: 12/9/17.
